welcome, 2015!

emily Hey, guys! I know it’s already January 5th (whaaat?!), but I decided to share my top three new year’s resolutions with you all today in honor of the new year.

#1: I want to blog more. Starting this year, I want to make it a goal of mine to post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and maybe on the weekends.

#2: I want to read at least 50 books this year. (That’s about a book a week, which means a review a week!) 😉

#3: I want to finish a novel. Yep, I know, this is a big one.

Those are my top resolutions! What are yours?

2014 was a big year for me. I began home-schooling, became a teenager (it’s tough! Lol!), went on a cruise (my first, and hopefully the first in a long line of cruises!), and I started this blog! Here’s to an amazing, and even better 2015.

Happy new year, everybody!

xx, Emily

  1. I noticed that you missed some of my later comments so I’m going to ask those questions again. You changed your blog design again! Does the pictures reflect what you like? Because I know you like cats , starbucks, and books and those are all up there. And I wrote a story for heathers latest Saturday story starter and I would love if you would read it and tell me if it was good or not when it is done be moderated. Okay so this whole me starting a blog thing is making me very very nervous. I want to start a blog but I part of me keeps on showing me the negative things. Like I may not like blogging, no will read it or like it, or that people will leave unkind comments. Do you have any encouragement for me? My cousin has tried to encourage me but need some encouragement from a blogger like yourself. Oh and I ask heather a few questions about absolutely truly and she says she does not know if it is going to be a series but she was given the okay to write a second book. Also I would like to recommend a few books to you: the seven wonders series( it is really good. Very adventurous with a hint of romance), gold medal winter( fictional. About a girl who gets to go to the Olympics and compete in figure skating), gold medal summer( not as good as gold medal winter but still good. Its about gymnastics.).

    1. Yep, I sure did! The header is a bunch of things I like – daisies (my favorite flower), the lipstick is because I love dressing up and fixing myself up, the girl holding the book in front of her face is because I’m a bookworm, the cute cat, and the Starbucks and books are obvious, haha. 😉 I would love to check that out – heading over to Heather’s blog in just a minute!

As for you starting a blog, I have a lot of doubts about my blog sometimes. I wish I had more subscribers, I put off blogging (mostly because I’m discouraged, but your comments always keep me going!!), and the list goes on. I’ve always gotten the sweetest comments. My dad gets an email notification whenever someone comments on my blogs, so he makes sure the comments are okay. I think that even if someone said something mean, you should totally keep blogging – who cares what someone else says about your blog? It’s YOUR blog! 😉 And you definitely shouldn’t be worried about something that has yet – and probably won’t – happen. I know that if you started a blog, I’d definitely read it – so that’s one person right there! As long as it’s okay with your parents, I would love it if you started a blog!

I remember Heather said something on her blog about possibly putting more books out for Absolutely Truly, plus on the book it says “A Pumpkin Falls Mystery,” which kind of made me think there were going to be more mysteries. (I hope so! 😉 ) I will absolutely truly look into those books! I’ve never heard of them, but they all sound like my kind of books! 😀

      1. I just got a letter from Heather Vogel Frederick! She sent me a signed book marker also. Autographed stickers for my MDBC books! I may faint. Is this what you felt like when you got a reply? Did you get stickers and a book mark? Also she is going to post a drawing I sent her on her blog! I’m going to be checking it every day( not that I already don’t ;p) . And my writing is done being moderated on her blog so if you would like you can read it. Can’t stop smiling!

        1. That’s awesome!! I got two signed book marks! 😉 My letter is hanging up on a cork board in my bedroom. 😀 I can’t wait to see your drawing on your blog. Going to find your story starter now! 😀

          1. The funny thing was in the comments of the latest fan mail she had told me today to expect a letter soon and that she had sent one that weekend. I already put all the autograph plates on my books. Some of them were meant for certain ones. Like for one she said Brooke you are a sweetie PIE. I had sid I bought the whole series with my birthday money and she sent me the plates! I have been planning some more MDBC art so I may write another letter to her in the future. I love writing letters. She is so cool. Her letter was personal so I can tell she just didn’t insert my name. If I ever start a blog I will have to have her do a guest post like she did on yours. I hope you like my story. If you look I comment on a lot of her posts( I comment on all of yours also ;p). And the drawing is going to be on her blog not mine( I’m guessing that was a typo). Did you get the drama is required reading bookmarks? Heather is my favorite author.

          2. Hmm… do you think she sent two? Or the one she was talking about got to you early or something? I got the drama is required reading book mark and one for Once Upon a Toad, and on the back it said “HOPPY” reading, Emily!” and her signature. 🙂 I think I’m going to send her another letter, too! I really love Heather because she personally writes you back and on her blog. Mine was personal, too – she answered some of my questions and told me how pretty my stationary was! I loved your Saturday story starter! It was really cool that you wrote it from your perspective and talked about Dear Pen Pal. The puppy picture reminded me of Pip, too! 😉

  2. These are great goals. Good luck! I hope to finish the second draft of three WIPs and then choose my best one to really polish up and begin querying agents with. I would also like to join some sort of critique group once I’m ready. Finally, I really want to do more magazine writing by writing and submitting at least one short piece per month.

    1. Thanks! Your goals sound amazing, too. I wish you all the best! I love your blog, and I know your WIPS on your blog sound GREAT. I’m excited to see you do all that in the next year! 😉

  3. I think it was just the one letter. I’m guessing she sent early on in the weekend and it just got here quickly. I like to decorate my own stationary( I want real stationary badly). I am drawing another MDBC picture so I think I will send that to her. The picture is of each girl and it is drawn in pencil except for one thing that is big in their character. Cassidy’s is her red hair, Megan her sketchbook, Emma her purple glasses, Becca her lip gloss, and I don’t know what to do for Jess yet. Any ideas? I’m probably going to write her another letter soon and maybe a letter to another author also. I’m not the best drawer but I’m okay. I struggle with the mouths and the hands.

    1. Oh and I thought it would be cool to write about Dear Pen Pal since there is a puppy in that. I don’t really like dogs. I’m a cat person and one of my cats is named Lily. But both of them are still alive.

      1. I’m a cat person too. Not one much for dogs, but puppies are okay as long as they’re not too hyper, lol. I have two cats named Mittens and Maisy. 😉

    2. You do? I bet it’s really cute. I saw some scented stationary at Barnes & Noble the other day (it smelled sooo good!!), but I didn’t have enough money, lol. 😉 For Jess, you could do her long blonde braid. Or maybe a songbook. 🙂 I’m just an okay-drawer, too. Funnily enough, I’ve sent a lot of fan mail to different authors over the years, but Heather is the only one who had ever answered. That’s part of why she’s my favorite author!

      1. She’s the first person I’ve ever sent fan mail to. I ended up doing a black cat for Jess. I was thinking that elvis was black. Do you remember? I am planning on drawing a bunch of mother daughter book club drawings and I will see which is best. I’m planning one with all the mothers plus Gigi, and maybe one of all the girls boyfriends/ brothers. And maybe one of all the dads, and I’m starting one with all the girls in their ball dresses. I’m going to do my best to follow how Heather described them. Ooh, that stationary sounds good( and probably smells good too). I usually just write hi or hello on the top and decorate it up.
