the candy book tag

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been tagged for anything, but gosh, I do love tags. They’re so… so sweet. And this one happens to be ESPECIALLY sweet (har-har). If you don’t have something yummy nearby, better grab it ’cause this tag’s definitely going to make you hungry.

Thanks to Izel for tagging me in the candy book tag! I’ve seen it around on other blogs and love it. So first off, the rules…

  • When you are tagged, please thank the blogger who tagged you! (Check! Thanks again, Izel!)
  • No one is obligated to participate, even if you are tagged.
  • If you decide to join in, please answer the questions and tag 5 other bloggers.
  • Please notify the people you’ve selected when they are tagged!

Let’s get started with the questions!

rocky road – a series or author that you have a complicated (er… rocky) relationship with

I’ve got two authors for this one. First off, Morgan Matson – because I loved her book, Second Chance Summer – it was sweet and sad and summery and SO DARN CUTE. But then, unfortunately, I was thoroughly disappointed with her other two books even though I really wanted to love them. And then there’s Sarah Dessen… *sigh* Again, I *want* to like them (I read one of her books in the 6th grade, mainly because I got sucked into it)… but they’re rather inappropriate for me, albeit easy to get into. Ugh.

laffy taffy – a book that stuck in your mind long after you finished reading it (or in the case of the candy, stuck in your teeth)

I’m going to go with The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. I only finished it last week but I already know it’s going to stick with me for a long time. Definitely a new favorite book! (Pleeeeaaase go read it!!)

mint chocolate – a book that everyone loved, but you didn’t

Well, about a year and a half ago, when I first started blogging – everyone was reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. At the time I didn’t follow many blogs who read books was into (aka: cleaner books) and thought “why not give it a try?” Aside from the dirty content of the book, I hated the main character, Cath (who was an “introverted,” uber shy bookworm – or fangirl) and I DNF’d it. It just wasn’t for me.

sugar-free candy – a book that just didn’t make any sense

Hmmmm… this is a tough one. Truthfully, I don’t really know of any books that didn’t make sense. I guess I don’t even bother with those types of books. (Just like I don’t really bother with sugar-free candy, LOL!)

sweethearts – a book that made you go “aww…”

I always feel warm and fuzzy when I read The Mother-Daughter Book Club series by Heather Vogel Frederick. It’s reminiscent for me to read the books (I’ve re-read them again and again for about four years now!) and the girls are just so adorable. Also: The Selection series! I wouldn’t necessarily label it as a “light” book, but Maxon and America are SO CUTE I want to squeal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yes that called for that many exclamation points.)

kit kat – a book that everyone needs to read

THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak. It’s definitely a book I’d recommend to anyone – boy, girl, young, old. Markus Zusak’s writing is so rich and unique. The book is a tad confusing in the beginning, but it’s one of those books that comes together so beautifully in the end. Here’s the movie trailer, but promise me you’ll read the book first! Thank me later, okay?!

snickers brand mixed nut bar (coming november 2015)… a book you are excited for

The Golden Braid by Melanie Dickerson. You all know I’m an avid fan of Miss Dickerson’s books, and this one hits shelves November 17th. I’ve got it on my Kindle as an ARC, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll have time to read it before the 17th. Most likely I’ll still end up buying it, because I own all of Melanie’s books and I definitely want to read this!

TAG YOU’RE IT: Madi // Trisha // Ana // Katie // Grace

I hope everyone I’ve tagged can participate!

so, bloglings. what is YOUR favorite candy? (reese’s fan over here!) and tell me a book that’s similar to the candy listed above!

  1. Thanks for doing this tag! I always love reading you answers!
I love all sorts of candies…but lately i’ve loved Swedish Fish, and then freezing them! But mainly and sour/gummy candy or white chocolate.
I get your trouble with Morgan Matson, like you I didn’t like Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour but I loved her other two books. I’m excited yet nervous to read her upcoming release The Unexpected Everything. It looks so darn good but I’m also nervous!!
BY THE WAY I loved that Aladdin gif! I saved it….it could come in handy!!

    1. Aw, thanks Izel. I loved reading your tag too. Thanks for the tag!
Ooh, totally forgot about Swedish fish. They are great cold. It is the first I grab at sweet stuff, but I’d much rather have chocolate. And with peanut butter??! Pssshh I just can’t say no.
I may give Since You’ve Been Gone another try, but it just really wasn’t for me. Second Chance Summer was amazing though. *FEELS* I can’t wait to read The Unexpected Everything too. I’m hoping it won’t disappointed! Fingers crossed!
ISN’T IT THE BEST?? I came across it randomly on Google. I’ve got a feeling I’m going to be using that one a bunch.

  2. Great post :). This tag looks like a super fun one( though I don’t agree with the chocolate mint one. I love chocoalate and mint stuff.).
My favorite candies have to be gum, gummy stuff, and mint stuff. LoL. I use to be a reeses lover too, however I discovered I mam alergict and they started To really bug me. I tried to eat one last week and it did not go so well.
Anyways I’m so glad its Friday. Almost the weekend! Lol. And the weekend means im getting even closer to getting Winter!!

    1. Hmmmmm. I disagree there. Mint and chocolate just taste too much like chocolatey toothpaste to me. Blech.
Oh, that sucks. Don’t know what in the world I’d do if I found out I was allergic to Reese’s! STAY STRONG BROOKE.
Yessss. Fridays are my favorite days. But you know what really sucks? Fridays are so close to Mondays but Mondays are so far away from Friday. Sigh.
YES WINTER! IT’S COMING SOON. ALONG WITH THE PRESSURE FOR ME TO READ CINDER GAHHHH.

    1. I think I read it, probably about two years ago. I don’t remember much but I think I enjoyed it a lot. It was a bit confusing I think. :-/ Sorry I don’t remember!

          1. Also, I just finished Matched by Allie Condie. Have you read the other books in the trilogy? I’ve heard they’re not as good, but I was just wondering. 🙂
