florida pictures

Greetings from Florida! I’m on the road right now… thank goodness for hot spots, so I can write up some posts from the road. We’ve got about eight or nine hours left to go until we get home, so I’ll be busy sleeping, watching Netflix, and (hopefully) reading, if I don’t get sick.

In case you missed it, in my last post, I told you about my family’s impromptu Florida trip! My “Aunt” Tina (close friend of my mom’s we call aunt ๐Ÿ™‚ ), and her husband live near Tampa, so at about 6PM on Thursday, my mom was texting with her and as it turned out, she had a three-day weekend! So six hours later, our car was packed and we were on our way to Florida! It was definitely spur-of-the-moment. But hey, my dad can take his work anywhere (a plus of being a web designer), and we had a free place to stay. Whoo-hoo, here we come, Florida! ๐Ÿ˜€

So here are some pictures from the trip. Enjoy!

We got there at about 9 in the morning (after driving through the night; it was actually a lot of fun! 1AM stops at McDonald’s – you don’t do that every morning, right?) And later that afternoon, we headed to my aunt’s neighborhood pool. Isn’t it nice?

Youย knowย I didn’t get in the car without at least one book with me! (I brought three.) Turned out great – I finishedย The Phantom Tollbooth,ย and startedย Listening for Lucca.ย I couldn’t really get intoย Listening for Lucca,ย so I decided I’d try that one later and start with a lighter read,ย The Wish,ย by Gail Carson Levine. It’s great so far.

The view from the backyard. Look at those beautiful trees!

Okay, I know these are your plain-old, store-bought cookies, but they’re my FAVORITE. So yes, I took a picture of the cookie. It’s good, though, right??

Aunt Tina’s neighbors were having a fourth-of-July party, so we hung out there for a little bit. Since even Aunt Tina didn’t know everybody, we didn’t stay too long. But look at me, my dad, and Anna’s festive outfits!

I went bold and wore a tutu! Isn’t it cute?! Sadly, we didn’t get to see any fireworks (we did see some over the tips of the trees in the yard), but we had a great time with Aunt Tina and Uncle Tom’s “sing trix,” a karaoke machine that changes your voice when you sing! They found it on Shark Tank. It’s super cool!

Selfies on the beach! ๐Ÿ˜€

Here are the girls! Left to right: Aunt Tina, my mom, me, and my little sister, Anna.

Can I live here?!

And that was my weekend! ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Ooh. Fun fun. Florida is nice. I’ve been there once. The pictures are great! The store bought cookies have the best frosting. I got to see quite a few fireworks. The base here always has a great show and then we went and watched soem downtown om the 4th.
Tell me if those books are good!

    1. Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚ Actually, I really don’t like frosting! I just love how soft the cookies are. They’re melt-in-your-mouth-amazing. Lol. I bet it does have a great show. I was really disappointed we didn’t get to see fireworks. I love them.
I will. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m reviewing three books in one post this coming Monday!

  2. That’s so awesome! I live in Florida, but not near Tampa (although Bush Gardens, woot!). I’m so glad you got nice weather, it was raining our 4th of July weekend :/ (although from that one picture by the lake I can see some signature dark clouds xD). You guys are such a cute family, and it looks like you had a lot of fun too. That beach is absolutely gorgeous (ours is full of seaweed along the coast yuck. We went to the beach yesterday, and we couldn’t do much, the seaweed was acting like a solid wall). Happy belated 4th, and I hope you and your family continue to have a safe drive back home ๐Ÿ™‚
Long car rides are the perfect time to binge read xD

    1. Woot! Bush Gardens! I hope to go there sometime.
Aww. It was thundering at one point, and a lot of wind, but no rain. (Thank goodness!) Although we had a hard time telling the thunder from the fireworks, haha.
Thank you! We did have a blast.
Yuck. Some beaches we’ve been to have lots of seaweed. I hate it.
Yes, they are! I did get to finish “The Wish,” by Gail Carson Levine, which was great.
Hey, Grace, could you send me the link to your poetry blog again? I keep losing it, and I think you forgot to link to it in your name. :/ I want to do your 3-day quote challenge sometime! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. It looks like you had a nice time, and the photos are all lovely! I’ve only been to Florida once, and it was a nice time. There are a lot of gators! Nonetheless, I’m glad you had a good Independence Day, and I hope you have a safe trip home!

    1. I did have a fantastic time! Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Yes, there are. I can’t even count the times I’ve been to Florida. It’s so beautiful. Of course, we’re in Georgia, so it’s only one state over. (Although eight hours from our house, darn it.)

  4. Looks like you had a wonderful time Emily! That pool looks gorgeous! Wait, did you get to see fireworks? The ones where I live, were simply AMAZING! I recorded the whole night, and I’ll be uploading it to youtube soon. So glad you had a good holiday! Thanks for all the pictures!

    1. It was gorgeous! It’s one of my favorite pools I’ve ever been to. It even had a walk-in entrance, where it started at 0 feet and went all the way to 5 feet (no stairs.) It was awesome. Though no diving board. ๐Ÿ™
No… I meant that we could see some over the trees, but no much, and by then they were almost over. I hope to see some soon!
Ooh. I’ll have to check that out. I bet they were amazing. ๐Ÿ˜‰
