Hey, everyone! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so I invited Audrey from The Measure of a Book to share with us 5 great books for the perfect Valentine’s Day romance. Β I also talked about my personal likes and dislikes in love stories on her blog, so be sure to drop by there as soon as you read Audrey’s guest post below!
Hello, my bookish friends!
I am so glad to be back here with Emily and, of course, her fabulous readers!
Valentine’s Day approaches us quickly, and I am quite ready for it. I’m a single lady, (unless you’re counting fictional characters…) but Valentine’s day is still one of my favorites! It’s a day for showing small acts of kindness and love! Of course, we should be showing those things every day, but Valentine’s Day is a chance to do the things we don’t normally do.
Example: Send hand-written letters to all the lovely friends in your life! Bake heart shaped cookies or candies for your friends and/or family to enjoy together. Take out some other single friends for coffeeβ¦
I just really love Valentine’s Day! π
But now, for more bookish matters.
Maybe you’ll be around the house this lovely holiday, or in the car, or on a plane. Today, I’m here to share with YOU, my favorite romances to satisfy your love craving!
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m one of the pickiest romance-readers there ever was. You can learn about thatΒ here.
Thankfully, there are good stories out there, with just a touch of wholesome romance, and I’m gonna show you what I’ve found.
1.) Interrupted by Rachel Coker— This is one of my VERY favorite books! The romance is sweet, mild, and simple. This book was actually written by a teen author, so you can see why this was such an inspiration for me π
2.) The Vow by Kim and Krickitt Carpenter— I’ve never watched the movie, and I don’t know that I ever will. But despite the movie’s interpretation of Krickitt and Kim’s true story, this was a wonderful book! I should really re-read it! I was quite surprised when I realized these two were Christians. I had just never heard that side of their story.
3.) Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery— Anne and Gilbert make for quite a romance! Funny, simple and innocent, these two always have me entertained. π
4.) The Heart Mender by Andy Andrews— This is one of the most amazing stories I have ever read! It’s absolutely WONDERFUL. This is a must-read for any WW2 lover.
5.) Roadside Assistance by Amy Clipston— This one got pretty unrealistic at times, (though most romance novels do!) but overall, a very fun and light read. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for your <3 Day reading list!
So there you have it! My top 5! Not in any specific order, I don’t do favorites. π
What about you? What would you recommend for a good Valentine’s Day read?
~Audrey
This post was cool. I plan on ordering inturrupted soon. I couldn’t see your post on Audreys blog so I’ll have to look for it again in a bit. I’m sure its great.
Oh, great! I can’t for you to read it.
That’s alright, she probably hasn’t posted it yet, but she should sometime today. π
I left a comment for you on Audreys blog if you want to see it. Thought I should tell you.
I love boy meets world! Topanga and Cory are a dream couple. They were meant to be. Lol. I love how Ryley acts like Cory in GMW. When I was younger I would watch boy meets world as much as I could. I found it very funny.
No I have not yet posted it and I am so sorry!! I only have my phone with me at the time and not my laptop. I should have it up very soon though, so be on the lookout!
I will be! Thanks, Audrey. π
You should now be able to find it π
I really love Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. It’d definitely be perfect for Valentine’s Day. Anna and Etienne are so adorable. Also Eleanor and Park or Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Fangirl’s much fluffier, but they’re both cute love stories.
I’ve seen Anna & The French Kiss, and I think it sounds really cute. I don’t think it’s quite my cup of tea, though. π Thanks for your suggestions! I’ll have to look into those.
I KNEW YOU WOULD INCLUDE A BOOK BY RACHEL COKER, AUDREY! Like you, I am SO picky with romance in books. I’ve come across some books and been shocked because I wasn’t expecting inappropriate content, but for the most part, I’ve chosen my books wisely. Rachel Coker’s books are so clean and the romance is actually there for a reason, so I love her books. She’s definitely a huge inspiration to me, too.
Rachel Coker is AWESOME. I’m so stinking excited because I’m going to her Dream Factory Workshop in May (EEEE!!!! SERIOUSLY OMG!!!!!) and just… EEEEE. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read Interrupted and Chasing Jupiter. I totally agree with you, Ana.
You are so lucky, Emily! I wish I could go, but I don’t think I can. It looks like so much fun, so I seriously demand a blog recap and pictures when you come back from the trip. Have fun! And I really need to reread Chasing Jupiter sometime soon, because that is my favorite of Rachel’s two books. It was so deep and funny at the same time.
Yesssssss on Anne of Green Gables!!! π Gotta love Anne with an E!
AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE GREEN HAIR. The green hair is my favorite. Gotta love her Carrot – excuse me, Auburn! – hair! π
Lol, yes! π
You should read Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg. I think both of you guys would love this book.
I will definitely look into that, Trisha! Thanks so much for the recommendation! You can never have a To Be Read list that is too long π Unless, of course, you’re broke… like me π
I know exactly what you mean.
Omg, Better off Friends looks so good! The cover is adorable!! π
It is! I’ll probably do a book review on it.
Emily, did you like the blurb?
Yes, I LOVED the blurb. Especially because two characters in my book are best friends, but boy/girl, so I’d like to read it. π
These books sounds sweet!! “The Vow” sounds like a movie called “The Notebook” I don’t know if it’s the same movie, but they have similar concepts. I’ll like book with a little romance but not a whole ton. Like in your face romance!
Lol, i meant I don’t like books with in your face romance. Sorry if my comment sounded confusing for a second π
LOL, that’s okay! I wondered about that. π
I think my parents have seen The Notebook, but I don’t think I’m allowed to see it until I’m a little older. The title does sound a lot similar, though!
