help me pick out dresses & books

Hey, guys! Today I can officially tell people I’ve been keeping up with my book blog for over a year. So today’s a pretty exciting day, too. (Well, not for the disciples some 2,000 years ago, right??) πŸ˜‰ But tomorrow is going to be even better! (If you haven’t guessed already, it’s EASTER SUNDAY tomorrow!)

My family and I are going to be visiting a friend’s church and going a few hours away to an annual Easter family gathering on my dad’s side of the family. I haven’t been down there for Easter for a few years, so that’s pretty exciting. Plus it’s my baby cousin’s first Easter! I can’t wait to see her!

Look at that crazy hair! We already have one thing in common. My hair’s pretty crazy too. This is what my friend’s face looked like the other day when she saw my bed head:

Come on, IΒ hadΒ to use that gif! Anyway, I’m still debating what to wear for Easter.

I think I have a thing for navy. What do you think? Polka dots? Lacey dress? Plain navy? Ohhh the decisions.

If you noticed in the title, I’m doing a “DNF recap,” which in case you didn’t know, “DNF” stands for Did Not Finish. Because (oops, started a sentence with because. Apologies, second grade teacher!), being the bookworm that I am, I tend to actually NOT read some books sometimes. You know that feeling you get when you know you have money to spend? It just feels SO GOOD toΒ knowΒ you’ve got money in your wallet.

Yep. I replace money with books, and wallet with bookshelf. Which means I currently have $0 in my wallet, and a LOT of unfinished books. Here’s the stack:

Uh-huh. I know! I feel awful. I didn’t even realize there were so many. I also have a couple… (alright, alright, 6) books on my Kindle I haven’t read…

Do you recognize any books from the stack or on my Kindle? Aren’t there SO MANY??! I am soooo behind.

Which dress do you like? Which book should I read first? Let me know!

  1. I personally like the polka dot dress best for this time of year, it’s more light and airy rather than black lace. “Once was Lost” sounds pretty good! I never let me book pile up. If I buy lets say 6. I’ll read them all in a week. Easy. -And I review them as fast as wordpress will let me! Your Easter trip sounds fun too! My family doesn’t celebrate Easter (we used to) but my extended family does. They have a huge family BBQ every year and it’s loads of fun! So when you said it’s Easter weekend in my head I was thinking ‘Oh,… well what do you know??’ lol πŸ˜‰ I hope you have loads of fun and tell us all about it!

    1. yeah. I think I may go with the polka dots.
I’m excited about Once was Lost! Now that I’ve actually realized how many books I haven’t read, I’m going to be overwhelmed about what to read next!
Haha. My dad’s side of the family does that, too. Just a big family get-together and lots of food!
I would probably forget when Easter is except that whenever I walk into a grocery store, there’s Easter stuff EVERYWHERE. There were Easter balloons the day after Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s day stuff. The stores keep me posted on holidays. Lol!

  2. The polka do dress. The trading faces series is good, and I’ve good things about half a chance, the hidden diaries series, and serendipity and me. We don’t celebrate Easter, but we certainly do celebrate Christmas. I mostly get my books from the library, unless it’s a book I really want, and it isn’t in the library. πŸ™‚ I still get what you mean about your wallet though. πŸ™‚ So, yeah, we might go to D.C. tomorrow to visit my brother. I’m so excited to see him!!! Its been at least 3 months since I last saw him. I’ve done some book reviews, but I really have to get started more. I don’t have enough time between all my sports and other lessons. Ahh… the trouble of always being in demand. πŸ™‚

    1. I’m probably going to read Trading Faces or This Means War (it’s a historical fiction) next. I can’t quite decide. Either way, I’m making it my goal to finish all of these before I buy another book. I might get some from the library, but no more spending money on books for me! πŸ™‚ So I’m just curious, but why do you celebrate Christmas, and not Easter?
That’s exciting! I’m going to D.C. in May with my family, and I’m going to be at one of Kiera Cass’ book signings!! (EEEKKK!!!) I love traveling with my family. I bet you’re super excited!
Haha, I completely understand. I don’t do sports, but I’m pretty busy between writing assignments, piano, the historical home, the blog… but most of the time I can’t decide if I want to get some blog posts written up or a book finished. Lol.

      1. Well, Christmas is something my parents still celebrated in India. Don’t ask why; I really don’t know πŸ™‚ So, they carried on the tradition.

And, YOU’RE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! times 1000!!!!!!! And, yeah, I am excited, though I pretty much know the way now cause we go there often.

        1. Oh, that makes sense. I didn’t think about that. πŸ™‚

I KNOOOW! I would have never dreamed it. There’s no way I would have gone (because she’s not coming to Georgia), but it just so happened that my family planned a trip that very weekend!! I seriously cannot believe it. I’ve never even been to an author signing!

    1. Thanks, Liv. I seriously don’t know which one to do. πŸ˜› I wish I could wear all three – one to church, one when we go get lunch with you guys, and one when we go to Columbus, haha!!!

    1. YES. I can tell from your fashion Pinterest board we have basically the exact same taste in clothes, Audrey. Polka dots are a must in anyone’s closet. πŸ˜‰

  3. OH YAY FOR BOOKS!!! I actually seeing the bottom of my TBR at the moment, which gives me mixed feelings of “ooh, look how far I’ve come!” to “aghhh I nED MORE BOOKS!” XD I love Jerry Spinelli!! I’ve only read Maniac Magee and Milkweed by him, though, so someday I’d love to try more of his books!

    your cousin is SO CUTE!

Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

  4. What dress did you end up wearing? I need to get some good books. Any recommendations?
I got your letter yesterday! So excited. I’ll probably write a reply tomorrow. I’m a little busy today. It’s so fun being around a baby. And seeing my brother and sister in law
I always seem to have some money for books but I try to limit myself.

  5. Hi! I’ve read Serendipity and Me. Good book. I need some book recomendations, do any of you have any for me?

  6. I have currently 4 books that have been bought and sit unread. Of those, 2 are a part of a series so I want to go back and reread the first book before I get to the second…. so really I have 6 books crying out to be read πŸ™‚

Also, I start sentences with “Because” all the time. I end with prepositions occasionally too, even though it kind of drives me nuts. But “with whom he was speaking” just sounds so stilted, don’t you think?

    1. Haha. You’re not alone! πŸ˜€

Yeah, I’ve kind of given up on all of that, too. My ten-year-old sister is currently going through a phase where whenever anyone says ‘so-in-so and me…’ she just HAS to correct them and say ‘so-in-so and I!’ Ohhhh goodness. πŸ˜€
