stacking the shelves

Hey, guys! So many books to be read. So many flashcards to study. Seriously, where is there someone I can pay to finish this last week of school for me so I can be DONE. All I want to do is sit on my bed and read and eat chocolate and blog and flip out over Kiera Cass and The Selection and there is LATIN to be done.

Anywho. One more week, just one more week! Of course, recently I’ve been reminded that I could be enduring another month of school if it weren’t for the marvelous fact that I’m home-schooled this year. Really, no complaints!

I got several books this week! Here’s the stack:

emily

Short disclaimers: I’ve read The Book Thief, and The Bronze Bow is school-required. But they’re BOOKS, and they’ll be added to my shelves, soooo…. stacking the shelves.

Alright #1: The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. I cannot tell you how long this one’s been on my book wishlist. I told my dad that reading a book you’ve wanted to read for a long time is like finally meeting a friend of a friend you’ve heard so much about. So finally, we meet, Princess Academy! I do think we’ll be good friends! Plus I’ve been told this one’s like an MG Selection series, and that makes my heart sing.

#2: Cornelia and the Audacious Escapades of the Somerset Sisters. Yes, that’s a title. Oh – by Lesley M.M. Blume. I found this one whilst browsing thriftbooks.com (which I haven’t but need to order some books from!), and then saw it at a used bookstore nearby and had to have it. Plus you totally can’t beat two bucks, right?! I’m really looking forward to this one. It sounds like a really cute, funny one!

#3: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Again, used book store. Four bucks. For about a year I couldn’t bring myself to buy it for 13 or $14, when I had it on my Kindle, but FINALLY I have it in print, on my bookshelf. I can smell the pages. So, so very glorious. I may have to re-read it now that I’ve got it to hold in my hands… to feel the pages. Ahhh. Anyway, this one’s a classic already, so it’s good to have it in my little library. Kudos to my mom because she agreed it’s a classic and she bought it for me. (Also kudos to Emily for giving her the puppy-dog eyes.)

#4: The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare. School-required.

I kid, I kid! It looks really good. I’m sure I’ll love it. And besides, if anything, the wonderful-smelling pages will keep me hooked. (Happy sigh.)

Okay, so now it’s time for “Make everyone jealous because I have really cute bookish things and aggghhh they’re so cute!” Ready? Okay.

emily

“Pretty Girls Read Books.” Aggghhh!! *Squeals!!* I’m obsessed. Isn’t it so cute? Perfect for carrying all the books I’m bound to read on my vacations/trips this summer. And to the pool. Oh, gosh, I’m thinking about summer again. And mostly about all the books I’m going to read this summer. Somebody help me! =)

And to pin onto the cute bookish bag…

emily

These pins are just the cutest. Which one is your favorite?? I got each one at seperate times I went to the used bookstore. (It’s called 2nd & Charles, by the way – it’s a chain used book store so check if it’s in your area and then GO THERE. Seriously, it’s the best used book store in the history of used book stores.) I have to say I like the Future Author one. Apparently I missed it the first two times when I got the other pins. Anyway, they’re MATCHING and they’re CUTE and I just love it.

How was your week? What books did you get? Aren’t the pins and the bag so cute??!

Emily

  1. Ooooh, Princess Academy is amazing! I hope you like it! I went to Goodwill once and managed to snag a collector’s Edition of the Book Thief for two dollars… thank goodness for used book stores! I so much want to go to 2nd & Charles, one of my friends raves about it, and then your pins… Lovely stack!

    1. It definitely is so far! 🙂
      No way! That’s awesome! I’m so jealous…
You definitely need to go to 2nd & Charles! It IS amazing! Let me know if you go. You’ll love it!

  2. Wow. That’s a good stacking the shelves. I know you’ll love Princess Academy. The other books in the series are good too. I love the third and final one. I love the new covers for the series. They are so gorgoeus. I need to buy them.
I have a ton of books to read( happy birthday to me!) And I told you all of them in a comment on your last post. I can’t wait to get started on them. Also I have an itunes card to use so do you have any recommendations for apps or songs I should get? I have a soccer game today. Its just my week 🙂 . I can’t wait to get your package. When did you send it? And what class did you send it in( just so I can know when to expect it).
I have a ton of exciting things to tell you. My mom and dad are thinking about letting me have a blog! I’ll give you all the updates on that as they come in. Also I’m trying to convince my mom to let me get a pinterest. I know you love it.

    1. Yay! Are you thinking about what you’re calling it? I really liked Brookeworm. 🙂
I answered everything else on the other post.
Oh and good luck at your soccer game!!

      1. If she let’s me( its not for sure) I’ll probably do Brookeworm. It just sums me up.
Oh I didn’t notice! I’ll reply to those questions in this comment. It doesn’t feel to different. I love rereading too! Its important to me As well. It was really fun! That’s okay! I’ll have something to loom forward to! Lol. Great minds think a like. That’s totally okay! Soul Surfer looks really good. Then next time I’m at hastings I’ll pick up Just Ella :). I cant wait to get it. I’m sure I’ll have fun shopping for you.
Thanks! I’m sure I’ll have fun. I love sooccer.
Is pinterest fun? I’ve been asking my cousin about pinterest I think it would be fun to have.

        1. I love it! I’ve always wished my name could go into a word like that.
Haha, yep! Okay. The other books will be a surprise. =)
It’s a lot of fun. It’s actually quite addicting. Mostly I just follow my friends or other bloggers and look at what they’re pinning and then re-pin. I honestly don’t use it much for crafts/DIY and things. I have a board for Bookworm things here: https://www.pinterest.com/emilycope13/bookworm/
          I pin way too much!
Oh and I had a question – is The Heir coming to you in the mail on May 5th? Or did you get it early? I saw that some people got it early and I can’t figure out how, unless they’re ARC’s.

          1. Yeah. Its a good name. I don’t know if my mom will let me have a blog though. We will see!
🙂 I’m sure I’ll love everything you got me.
It sounds fun. I think I would use it for a bit of everything. I can crochet so id probably use it for patterns too. YeAh. That’s probably what id do too. Lol.
It says its going to come to me on the 5th. Yeah. I dont see how they could get it. I guess some copies of the One went out early too. Maybe if they have them ready they just send some early. It would be cool to get it early.
I have a question. In your first letter you said there was a really bad word at page 187. I’ve passed that part and didn’t see a bad word. What part is the word at( I haven’t finished it yet but so far its really good).

          2. I hope she does! And I hope you do! =)
yeah. I do, too – but more bookworm stuff!
Hmm. I might look it up. I’d give anything to get it early!
Are you talking about The Best Bad Luck I Ever Had? I’m pretty sure it was on page 187… When Big Foot and Doc got in a fight, right?

  3. Hello, I’m new to your blog (seance I’ve subscribed I’ve only received two of your post, and I’m loving it!).
Those are adorable purchases! I love them all! =)

  4. I LOVE Princess Academy!! Have you read other books by Shannon Hale? Book of 1000 Days was another favorite, and of course Goose Girl. Happy reading!

    1. Do you? No, I don’t think I have. They all sound amazing, though. I think she may end up being one of my new favorite authors. 🙂

  5. Lucky!! I still have 6 weeks of school left…. 🙁 My best friend just read the Book Thief and was pretty much addicted to it, so I’ll have to read that one for sure! I love the button that says I’d Rather Be Reading. So true! 😉

  6. My sister’s rereading Princess Academy (we’ve had our copy for a good 8 or so years). It’s a really good book 🙂
I’m curious, do you listen to music while you read?

    1. Wow! It must be a loved copy. =)
Actually, sometimes I do. Usually instrumental/classical (The Piano Guys are one of my favorites!) But sometimes I listen to lyrical music, but on low volume, so that it’s sort of in the background. What about you?

      1. Instrumentals are perfect when reading a book. Lyrics and words from a book get jumbled and then I start to get confused xD I like instrumentals and classical music too (You listen to the Little Women soundtrack, right? The BEST). Depends on my mood 😛 My sister, on the other hand, listens to whatever songs fit the mood of her book LOL. And then whenever that song comes on, she says, “OMG this sets the scene for Peter and the Star Catchers (Peter Pan spin off)” ha ha xD I have those moments too where a song brings me back to a book I once read 😉

        1. I totally agree. Yes, the Little Women soundtrack and the 2005 Pride & Prejudice soundtrack. Perfection! I’ve been needing to make playlists for different instrumental songs based on their mood – you know, sad, intense, happy, etc. So I can listen to them depending on what book I’m reading!
I have Peter and the Starcatchers on audio! I’ve been meaning to listen to it. It sounds sooo good. Everyone who’s read it loves it, too!

  7. You’re so lucky! Only 1 more week of school for you!

I’m not out of school until the end of June. We have regents and finals and tests in every subject next week. Plus the NY State test! We have 2 more months of school, and basically June is just 1 big month of testing and studying and worrying. 🙁

    1. I know! I really am!
Wow. June?? I’ve never been in school that long. Even in private/public school, I always got out the end of May, but I went back in early August. So summer vacation begins before summer does, for me.
Aww! That stinks. I know you can make it! 🙁
Seriously, no more complaining from me!

  8. Oh. Yea . I really want a pinterest. I bet I can convince my mom to let me get one eventually.
Yeah. It would be awesome to get it early. Have you preordered it?
Oh. I guess I misunderstood you. I was talking about Lions of Little rock. I looked in your letter and you did say the Best Bad Luck I Ever Had. MY bad. I haven’t read that book yet. I finished Lions of Little Rock ( except for the history and stuff at the end). It was pretty good.

    1. No, I haven’t pre-ordered it. My mom said she’d buy it once we were in D.C., on the 5th. 🙂
Oh, okay! The Lions of Little Rock is really good! How did you like it??

  9. I loved The Book Thief. It’s such a unique book from its unusual perspective to gorgeous writing style, and it is also a feels ripper. Oh, and it’s historical fiction. Hello, the perfect combination of elements in a book!

Eep! I love your pins, and I agree that the Future Author one is the best!

    1. I know. Everything about it is so unique. It’s just all perfection!

Thanks! I LOVE them. I get lots of compliments on them when I pin them to my purse. 🙂
