my top three favorite styles // classy, yet preppy

emily Hey, everyone! Today I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite styles via my Pinterest board, because I’d like to start blogging about other things I enjoy, too – and I personallyΒ loveΒ clothes, if you didn’t know that about me. πŸ™‚

Lately, I’ve been really loving skirts. Mid-length, flowing skirts are my favorite, like these:

I love the tulle on this one!
That pink skirt paired with the heels and statement necklace?! Yes, please!
I love solid colors paired with patterns, like this skirt with the black stripes.

I particularly love these skirts, because they remind me of these 50’s style skirts:

I’ve also been loving overalls, of which my mom bought me for Christmas!

I love how both styles are paired with ankle boots, but they’re styled a bit differently. In the first picture, the overalls are tucked into the boots, and one of the straps is left undone. But in the second one, the overalls are rolled just above the the boots.

I’m also a HUGE fan of chunky, over-sized sweaters.

The braid and sweater makes for the perfect casual-looking outfit.
Check out the neutral-colored sweater with the maroon tights! Gorgeous!

So those are my top three favorite styles! πŸ™‚ What sort of trends/styles do you like? Why? I love all of these, because I feel like they’re so classy and a little bit preppy, and I love the mix of both. πŸ˜‰

Until next time!

xx, Emily

  1. Well to be honest I’m not much of a clothes person. On a week day I just wear a tea shirt with jeans in the winter. Sometimes I wear a cowboy shirt( you know what I mean plaid button up). On Sundays I wear a nicer shirt with pants. And in the summer I wear about the same except with shorts. I know this blog that i think you will like.its called Emily Jane and is done by a girl who lives in Australia. I use to look at her old blog Crafty girl, but she switched to a different blog that is more about fashion. I think you will like it. She does some DIY too and every once in a while a giveaway. She’s really nice. Tell me if you like her. I asked my mom if I could have a blog and she said she would think about and find out which one is safest.I also googled Brookeworm and a few blogs showed up but they all had things before it or after it. Like blogging Brookeworm or miss brookeworm. Do you think it would be okay to name my blog Brookeworm?

    1. Oh, I totally understand! Some days, I just wear yoga pants and a sweatshirt because I don’t feel like putting any effort into my look at all. πŸ˜‰
Ooh, can you send me a link to that blog?! It sounds like the kind of blog I want to read!!
I think it would be absolutely truly okay to name your blog Brookeworm! Just because no one else has the same name doesn’t mean it’s not a good name. That just means you’re the only “Brookeworm” blog out there; there could be a dozen “Blogging Brookeworms,” you know? Plus, you don’t have to worry about finding a URL available. πŸ˜‰

      1. http://emilyjane.typepad.com I hope that works. Yeah, Im going to come up with some back up names if I don’t want to name it Brookeworm( I’m going to act like I already have the okay to have a blog so it might come true!). I’m so glad you finally replied. I was checking your blog five times a day to see if you either replied or posted something new( I always check your blog that many times ;p ). I bought the selection yesterday but I banned myself from reading it until I finish my other books. I read a chapter though and it looks good. I need to finish diary of anne frank, maze runner, and pride and prejudice. My room is full of books. A have a lot of books I have to read. I just need another book shelf. I am getting a desk soon and I have told my dad I want it to have a shelf on top. Well I have to go finish the letter I was writing. Reply soon!

  2. Skirts are one of my favorite pieces of clothing. I like the mid length, flowy ones, too, and I also love pairing solid colors and patterns. Dresses are also a big part of my wardrobe. Oversized chunky knit sweaters = YES!!! I made a purple one for myself last year, and it is so warm.

    1. ahhhh yesss!!!! It’s really cool that I’m branching out on my blog and I’m finding that some of my readers like the same fashions I do. πŸ˜‰

  3. I can’t stand overalls, but the skirts + sweaters in this post are TO DIE FOR. I don’t really consider myself a fashion person, but I have an obnoxious amount of flowy skirts and oversized sweaters (and what do you mean I live in Singapore, where it’s regularly 38 degrees Celcius?! I have NO IDEA why you’re looking at me like that ;)). Good to hear that you’re expanding the range of your blog a little bit, as well!

    1. Aren’t they, though? If only they were actually clothes from my closet. Unfortunately, I’m on an Old Navy budget. Farewell, Anthropologie… πŸ˜›

Lol, I had to google 38 degrees Celcius to Fahrenheit, and my eyes bulged out of my head when I saw the temperature! πŸ˜‰ (Silly old US has to do everything differently, lol. 38 degrees in Fahrenheit is close to freezing!) Thank you so much. I’m glad I’m branching out. =)

  4. Some of those are super awesome! I’m not always into dressing, I’m more into jeans and t-shirts and sometimes dresses but those skirts are awesome! I like your blog. It’d be awesome if you read mine πŸ™‚
